DAQIAO VILLAGE

While painting in this little village, the children would shyly try out the few English phrases they had learned like, "Hello" and "Where are you from" and would giggle when I replied in Chinese (thanks to the tutoring from our translators). I heard one little girl in the distance say, "I love you" and I responded with, "Wo ai ni"--which is "I love you" in Chinese and was met with an eruption of laughter. Hopefully they were laughing at the fact that I knew how to say the phrase and not my pronunciation.
